Imagine a nature Lab, for climate positive workshops

Topic Innovation, Sustainability
Words Lasse Kusk

Where better to practice your company's sustainable strategy than in nature? Imagine a place deep into the mountains, surrounded by forest and clear rivers. Breathe the fresh air, sense the nuances and textures, while listening meditatively to the languages of the unknown, all somehow perfectly orchestrated.

Here is the place where teams come for seminars to get inspired by nature, locals, and each other towards their climate positive goals. Why is sustainability important? A simple reply would be — because our future depends on it. Sustainability is something that all businesses, no matter of size, are confronting today.

Do you remember as a child how the sandbox at the playground felt like a whole world to you? A world created by you and your friends? Why did we go to the playground as a child? Of course, went there for activities, but above all, we went there to meet friends and to build a community.

People, Planet, Profit

People, Planet, Profit, are a triple bottom line framework, which was created by John Elkington (Elkington, 1997). It describes separate financial, social and environmental “bottom lines” of companies.

Triple bottom line (TBL) framework measures the company’s economic value, “people account” (the company’s degree of social responsibility), and “planet account” (the company’s environmental responsibility). Elkington stated that companies should apply three bottom lines instead of focusing purely on its finance.

Over the past years we see an increasing number of companies implementing the triple bottom line framework. This means that they focus on fostering increased value on the economic, environmental, and social levels, at the same time.

The three pillars of John Elkington’s triple bottom line to sustainable business.
Sustainability lives in the intersection of 3 circles, and combines 3 aspects: Social-economic, Environmental-economic and Social-Environmental.

Welcome to the sight of natural splendour

The idea is to nurture companies and teams on their journey towards green, sustainable, and climate positive values.

We welcome visitors to this nature seminar camp so that they can bring their minds to a relaxed state. The local knowledge and crafts are engaged and honored.

Visitors get involved in considering the limitations of nature, to guide their mindset towards responsibility to our nature, our society, and our own self.

Once fully relaxed, people start sharing their own stories and demonstrating creative ideas. The conversation starts, and genuine knowledge is formed.

Unlocking The Power of Clothing.

Uniqlo is a great example on major companies shifting it’s core value towards sustainability, with its powerful statment:

We believe we can turn the power of clothing into a force for good.
By designing, making and selling good clothing,
we can make the world a better place.

Good clothing means simple clothing, high in quality, and built to last.
It's clothing that enriches the lives of people
who wear it by giving them comfort, protection and pleasure.

It is produced in a way that is harmonious with nature,
without excessive burden on the environment.
Good clothing is made by people of diverse backgrounds
working with energy and enthusiasm, under conditions
where their health, safety and human rights are respected and upheld.

And we will extend this same spirit to our customers and all our stakeholders,
working with them to aspire to a better society where we all thrive.
This is our promise: to always work toward a better, more sustainable society.
