My design school MA thesis was “POLAR FUTURE”

The Danish design school KADK 1993 - 1998

I’ve always been driven by creative innovation. During my fashion education at The Danish Design School KADK, I started experimenting with wearable technology and sculptural creations at an early stage; in fact, back then we only had eight computers for the entire school.

There were parts of fashion as an industry that didn’t resonate with me. I was looking for deeper meanings and purposes to explore. that’s why survival gear and military equipment played a big role in my research. I remember with our limited internet access, following an expedition diary in Antactica. There was a day he wrote: “We are now watching the final sunset before the 3-Month Antarctic night of total darkness.”

We are now watching the final sunset before the 3-Month Antarctic night of total darkness.

That was the catalyst for my MA thesis titles POLAR. I started by creating a fictional future of the people living in arctic regions, where technology was incorporated into the body for optimized performance. Smart fabrics were used for surviving extreme conditions. I constituted a survival jacket jacket that could be folded flat using origami techniques. it was my belief that technology would become naturally integrated in our society while at the same time discretely becoming invisible from the surface of our lives. I called it the technology discretion time.

Technology Discretion Time.
